Chwast developed a unique relationship with art director Willy Flekhaus, and later Hans-Georg Pospischil of Frankfurter Allgemeine Magazin (the supplement to Frankfuter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper). Both frequently commissioned texts to accompany Chwast’s unusual visual narratives, and allowed him great creative freedom. In 2009, Chwast recalled, “My decade-long collaboration with Hans-Georg was the most gratifying of my career.”
